11:00 - 11:30 - Welcome to The National Museum of Computing [Library]

A variety of current volunteers will talk about what they do at the Museum and how they benefit from being a volunteer.

11:30 - 12:15 - Discuss volunteer roles [Library]

If you have already completed your application, or simply wish to know more, we can talk through the available volunteering opportunities for you. Refreshments will be available.

12:15 - 17:00 - See the Museum in operation [optional] and sign-up

Take the opportunity to experience our world-class collection first-hand, and learn from our experienced volunteer guides. If you wish to volunteer with us, fill out a volunteer application form on the day!

We have a number of roles we want to fill to help enhance our visitor experience. These roles are open to volunteers and we very much welcome existing and especially new volunteers who want to take on one or more of these roles:

  • STEM Ambassadors for weekends and holiday periods - To help with our STEM workshops and events. Training will be given.

  • Learning Guide - To help our Learning Guides, co-ordinating schedules and take on some guiding roles.

  • Shop / Ticketing - To help with the museum shop and/or ticket office.

  • Customer Service - To deal with our visitors queries and help out around the museum.

  • Events Support - To help with events held at the museum and externally, including some corporate events & exhibitions.

  • Curatorial Team - To help manage our collections of artefacts, specialise in some collections and work with our Donations team and Senior Curator.

  • Maintenance / Repairs - To help maintain and repair our exhibits on display and in storage. You will need prior repair and fault-finding experience.

  • Retro Gaming - To help with our retro games machines (repair) and manage our collection of hands-on equipment.
