William Digby Worthy

William Digby Worthy

A Virtual Talk by Steve Kay

William Digby Worthy is an unsung hero of British computing, being involved with, among other things, the Pilot ACE and DEUCE and being the principal designer of the Marconi Transistorised Automatic Computer (TAC). He also went on to be involved in the Marconi Myriad and Locus 16 computers. All this despite being brain-damaged at an early age by meningitis which resulted in memory problems and epilepsy throughout his life.

Steve will talk about Digby as well his involvement and the history of the TAC computer, one of which now resides in the Museum’s Large Systems Gallery

Steve Kay

Steve Kay is volunteer trustee at TNMOC and been a volunteer for many years. He maintains the Museums Marconi TAC computer.

The talk will last about an hour with a Q&A session afterwards.

PLEASE NOTE: Participants will be sent the link to the virtual talk no later than two days before the event.
