Learning Facilitators (Part Time)

The National Museum of Computing offers a renowned, Sandford Award-winning learning programme that engages a diverse audience from Key Stage 1 upwards. The Museum, located on the historic Bletchley Park site, houses the world’s largest collection of working electronic computers, including iconic machines like Enigma, The Bombe, Colossus, and the WITCH.

We are looking to expand our pool of dedicated learning Facilitators to deliver our schools programme. This role is well-suited for those starting a career in museums or looking to return after a career break.

STEM Facilitators (Part Time)

As part of our dynamic learning program at The National Museum of Computing, we're seeking individuals passionate about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to assist with our engaging workshops and events. Training will be provided, making this role perfect for those with a background in education or a keen interest in technology history.

This role offers flexible weekend and holiday hours, allowing you to contribute to our mission of inspiring the next generation of innovators while accommodating your schedule.

Operations and Education Support (Part/Full Time)

We are looking for a dedicated and versatile individual to join our team as an Operations and Education Support staff member. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of the Museum's front-of-house operations and the effective delivery of our educational programs. With a strong focus on enhancing visitor experience and supporting our educational mission, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to both operational excellence and educational impact.

The role has been designed to replace our former Operations Support position, reflecting our commitment to providing a comprehensive support system that bridges operational tasks and educational activities.

Volunteer Coordinator (Voluntary Role)

The National Museum of Computing is looking for a passionate and organised Volunteer Coordinator to support and develop its volunteer program, ensuring volunteers are engaged and empowered to help preserve and promote computing history. This role is vital in enhancing the volunteer experience at the museum, focusing on recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing engagement.

Trustee Roles (Voluntary)

We are now looking to strengthen and widen our Board of Trustees membership and would like to hear from individuals with a wide range of relevant experience and perspectives.

Diversity is important to us and we would encourage applications from a broad range of applicants, especially currently under-represented groups.

We are looking for Trustees who share a passion for our mission and want to help us drive it forwards. We seek new Trustees with the ability to think strategically, assess opportunities and manage risk to join and strengthen our existing Board, help provide oversight of staff and volunteers, and with experience in the public, private, or voluntary sector.

Voluntary Roles

We have a number of roles we want to fill to help enhance our visitor experience. These roles are open to volunteers and we very much welcome existing and especially new volunteers who want to take on one or more of these roles:

  • STEM Ambassadors for weekends and holiday periods - To help with our STEM workshops and events. Training will be given.

  • Learning Facilitator - To help our Learning Facilitators, co-ordinating schedules and take on some guiding roles.

  • Shop / Ticketing - To help with the museum shop and/or ticket office.

  • Customer Service - To deal with our visitors queries and help out around the museum.

  • Events Support - To help with events held at the museum and externally, including some corporate events & exhibitions.

  • Curatorial Team - To help manage our collections of artefacts, specialise in some collections and work with our Donations team and Senior Curator.

  • Maintenance / Repairs - To help maintain and repair our exhibits on display and in storage. You will need prior repair and fault-finding experience.

  • Retro Gaming - To help with our retro games machines (repair) and manage our collection of hands-on equipment.
