In this practical electronics workshop, you will assemble your very own eight digit calculator.
About This Event:
Develop and practice your basic electronics skills by completing a simple, practical construction project in our educational and hands-on 'Build Your Own Calculator' Workshop. In this workshop, you will be guided through the process of constructing an ATmega328 based electronic Calculator Kit. Starting with 52 separate components, by the end of this workshop you have built a complete eight digit calculator, with percentage, square root and memory functions, plus an automatic power off.
Our fantastic team of friendly and knowledgeable Museum Volunteers will be there to lead you through clear step-by-step instructions for the assembly of your calculator. The Museum will provide all the tools/equipment required for the successful assembly of your kit. Please note, whilst not essential, some experience of soldering electronic components is beneficial to this workshop. Participants unfamiliar with soldering might like to browse the following 'Soldering is Easy' Booklet prior to attending this event.
Full Museum Admission is included in the ticket price, allowing you to explore and be inspired by our extraordinary collection whilst you are here. The Museum is open to the public between 10:30 and 16:30. We recommend allowing approximately two hours for your visit. Therefore, attendees for the 'Build Your Own Calculator' Workshop are invited to arrive at the Museum from approximately 12:00pm.
