Leo Remembered
Leo Remembered
Leo Remembered - by the people who worked on the world’s first business computers
During the summer of 2022, over 50 people contributed to this book of reminiscences - a slender paperback crammed with memories of working with LEO at home and abroad. The book is dedicated to Peter Bird, author of the very first history of LEO and we are sure it will be of interest to all our members and friends.
In ‘LEO Remembered’, there are stories of things going well – and sometimes of the machines playing up, of royal visits, of practical jokes, of LEO careers and friendships, of fires and floods, of trade behind the Iron Curtain …and much more. The book is illustrated with archive photographs. Many colleagues (we count nearly 70) are name-checked and we are sure that the book will provide a great source of enjoyment and nostalgia as well as justifiable pride.
Georgina Ferry, author of ‘A Computer called LEO’ has said of the book: ‘The human side of LEO’s unique contribution to the history of computing comes to life in this captivating collection of reminiscences, testifying to a sense of collective endeavour among the LEO community’.
