/ElastaCloud announced as a foundation sponsor of The National Museum of Computing
The cloud firm has pledged its support to the museum and its various projects for the next three years
The National Museum of Computing, Bletchley Park, 07/12/2020 – Today, The National Museum of Computing (TNMOC), an independent charity based on the Bletchley Park estate, has announced its newest foundation sponsor, ElastaCloud – a cloud computing firm, specialising in AI, data intelligence and more.
At £12,000 a year, the foundation sponsorship programme is a 3-year commitment. In return, sponsors are invited to throw themselves into the museum’s diverse programme of activities and to work collaboratively across a variety of projects. These sponsorships enable the museum to continue preserving and showcasing Britain’s rich computer history whilst educating, engaging and inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals.
TNMOC are leading the way when it comes to diversity and inclusion - they run a highly successful learning programme for young people, especially females, to inspire the next generation of computer scientists and engineers. On top of this, they are currently piloting a project to support 20 autistic candidates to develop employability skills through interactive projects and placements at the museum. Without sponsorship, initiatives like this would not be possible.
On the new sponsorship Richard Conway, CEO and co-founder of ElastaCloud, commented: “We’re extremely proud to have been invited to be a sponsor of TNMOC. Without this prestigious institution there would be no permanent record to preserve the history of British computing. We’re looking forward to participating in events with the Museum and bringing more awareness to the amazing things they do across our communities and networks.”
Andy Cross, COO and co-founder of ElastaCloud, commented: "We are, in a small way, a continuation of our national pedigree in computing and it gives me great pride to be able to contribute to safeguarding this tribute to the history of our greatest problem solvers and the parents of the computer revolution".
Without the support of companies like ElastaCloud, the museum would be in an extremely difficult position. The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in little to no visitors, and the announcement of a second national lockdown, has further jeopardised the museum’s position. Sponsorship enables them to support their loyal team of fantastic volunteers, keep their doors open and ultimately educate as many people as possible about the importance of our computer history.
On the new sponsorship, museum director, Jacqui Garrad, commented: “we’re extremely happy to announce our brand new sponsor and partner, ElastaCloud. It’s been a tough year for the museum – at one point we even thought we might have to shut our doors to the public. It’s companies like ElastaCloud who have been imperative in ensuring we keep our doors open and continue to engage and inspire all with valuable knowledge transfer. We’re still in need of further sponsors but we cannot wait to work with the team at ElastaCloud and see what the future has in store for us.”
