The National Museum of Computing (TNMOC), an independent charity, has announced it is able to provide in-person learning for the first time since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic – welcoming students into the museum once again. Prior to the pandemic, the programme brought in schools from all over to learn from the museum’s incredible staff and artefacts.

The event, on 24th March, will feature talks, quizzes and an interactive workshop on ML to help participants begin to start thinking about a career in this diverse and growing field.

The National Museum of Computing fires start gun on retro games tournament celebrating BBC Micro’s 40th anniversary

Microlympics is an online tournament, played via emulator, where contestants are invited to record their results after 24 hours on some of the most iconic titles for the BBC Micro. Our contest is primed for the February half-term school holidays, with five games over five days. The tournament is open to everyone: veterans, fans of retro computing and first timers of all ages with players competing in one of three categories: under 12s, 12-17 and over 18s. The week will end with the iconic ground breaking space trading game, Elite. A true 24-hour challenge for gamers old and new.

TNMOC offers free remote learning package to 400 underprivileged students

TNMOC has announced its plan to offer its remote learning programme to 400 students in deprived areas from across the UK. Sponsorship for the bursary comes from the RAF Youth & STEM team and consulting and telecoms firm, Flint International.

The remote learning packages will give students an interactive and fun experience with STEM subjects during a difficult time for teaching.

TNMOC, an independent charity, has launched a new year-long programme to support 20 autistic candidates to develop employability skills through a series of placements and interactive science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) projects at the museum.

Dame Stephanie has pledged her support to the initiative. Through her charitable Shirley Foundation, she initiated a number of pioneering projects in autism, working tirelessly to improve the lives of the autistic community.
