Museum closed until further notice
/Following the Government guidelines, it is with great regret that as of Wednesday 18th March the museum will be closed to the public until further notice.
This includes all group visits, events and workshops. We are a committed team and want to ensure that we take the best precautions for our visitors, volunteers, staff, stakeholders, and collection.
As a museum with working machines and hands-on exhibits, we feel it would be not be responsible to remain open even though we go to considerable lengths to clean the interactive exhibits. We also recognise that social distancing is difficult in our museum where communication with visitors is valued and encouraged.
This decision was not taken lightly. Visitors to the museum, school visits and our events make up the vast majority of our income. Without it, we are unsure what the future holds … but we feel that closing is the right course of action.
We will keep in touch with some fascinating yet-to-be-released videos and Notes from the Museum articles via our website and social media.
We would like to thank you all for your support and look forward to welcoming you back soon.
